  For anyone interested in this topic, the Consolation magazine of May 27, 1942 that was mentioned above is well worth a read. Rutherford wanted to be buried at Beth Sarim and when that was not allowed by the local authorities, Beth Shan. There are of course many places here where he could have been buried.

  Who actually knows where he ended up? Several sources suggest beneath the garage at Beth Sarim or somewhere on Beth Shan, it ran to several acres. The cellar under the goat barn was not found until many years later and is currently an underground 'den' beneath a property built in the 1950's. Plenty of links and photos to that on this site.

  Do we? Did anyone actually check inside the coffin when it arrived for burial?

  Do you play the LOTTERY?

  jw view gambling as a sin and sadly people get addicted to gambling causing them financial and health problems.

  but is playing a couple of bucks a week on some lottery tickets actually gambling?

  what do you have to lose?

  I have never bought a lottery ticket or a raffle ticket. However, I do have Premium Bonds and it used to be said that a JW should not buy these as it is gambling with the interest.

  I have received far more in winnings than if I had put that money in the bank. The winnings are also tax free which can be handy depending on your level of taxable interest. (UK)

  So, 60 Years Ago

  so, folks, 60 years ago, starting on september 1st, i believe, we, local witnesses in southern california, had the "privilege" of attending the "around the world assembly", at, of all places, the rose bowl, in pasadena.

  (i think that it was an 8-day assembly) i was 9 years old then, almost ready to start 4th grade.

  so, was anyone else, on this site, at that assembly?

  they released a thick edition of the New World Translation

  Generally known as the "Jumbo Bible" or "Fat Boy Bible"
  

  It was basically all the 5 volumes of the NWT of the Hebrew Scriptures that had been released over the years, plus the NWT of the Greek Scriptures in one volume. i still have mine.

  I had to memorize a three scripture sermon to offer that book door to door. At eight years old.

  
  

  Ah, 3 - 4 scriptures, 10 -15 min Doorstep Sermon. Today's 30 hour "pioneers" and trolley minders haven't got a clue.

  I remember the old Babylon book well.

  I actually managed to place a copy one Sunday morning. I went back the following week and guess what, the guy had not read it! I never did return after that, I wonder how far he got with it.

  We studied it at the group, I was the Group Study Servant and found it so difficult to make it interesting. As stated above, there was a question booklet but we had to make up our own review questions for the end of the study. My old dad used to copy my review questions for his group!

  Greenlees, Chapman and Chitty

  so after being rudely awakened by a cat fight outside (it's 3am here in the uk) and then proceeding to go outside to rescue my cats from the neighbourhood tom....... i'm now laying wide awake trying to make sense of jw "truth".

  (it's all my mind does these days, the lights gone on and won't turn off).

  anyway i found myself reading about the gb and came across these fellows , greenlees, chapman and chitty.

  If they're removing AMIII, they are taking their time about it. Go on to the JW website and enter Anthony Morris into the video search box. There are over 30 videos of him and that's just the first page.

  We are six months down the line, by now one would have thought he would have been just a memory.

  Here in the UK when the congregation's assets pass 3 months expenditure we have to send the surplus to the WT Society.

  This new cash grab of £5.40/pub/month cannot be funded from what we receive each month. The only purpose of it is to guilt people into thinking "i must put in my £5.40 each month".

  As a congregation we barely cover expenses in a normal month.

  i can't seem to find the meeting dates anywhere online.

  anyone know when it will be or how i can find out?.

  You need to have an invitation.
